October 16, 2007 Boerne, TX

If you missed Master Falconer John Karger and the Bird of Prey performances at The Boerne Visitors Center back in June, you will have another opportunity to see him on Saturday, October 27. Last Chance Forever Bird of Prey Conservancy will return to the Visitors Center for the Harvest Moon Celebration, a fun new event based on the Celtic origins of Halloween.

You will be amazed with an up close look at the majestic Hawks, Falcons, Eagles and Vultures during two moving presentations and flight demonstrations at 3:15pm and 5:00pm, on the lawn of the historic Kingsbury House. Karger delivers an interactive exhibition that incorporates knowledge of basic raptor biology and natural behaviors, insights into the plight of the natural world and the human effects in the balance of living things is shared in this conservation-themed program. His program is charged with a passionate effort to promote a common sense attitude towards the interaction of mankind and our environment.

After the demonstrations, stick around because at 6:00pm the party starts with live Celtic music by Austin’s Poor Man’s Fortune -“traditional music without the cobwebs…modern music with tradition”. There will be campfire storytelling, and Candini the strolling magician will be performing up close mind reading, magic and paranormal entertainment.  Get free Astrology readings, play old fashioned games, purchase goods from Mary Brogans Irish Cottage, including Celtic jewelry.  Food and drinks will be available, and Tiffany’s Naturals will be doing henna tattoos.

After dark, enjoy an intriguing look into the mystifying world of Owls on the torch lit “Trail of The Mysterious Night Fliers”. Live owls will be featured in their natural nighttime environment, where an interpreter will be on hand to present these marvelous creatures on this one of a kind, never been done, adventure.

There will be a scarecrow building contest, and last but not least, come hungry because there’s going to be a pie eating contest sponsored by Tootie Pie Company. Come as you are, wear your Halloween costume, or Renaissance attire, this event will be fun for all!!!!
