Members of Boy Scout Troop 102 (sponsored by First United Methodist Church of Boerne) recently completed the design and completion of a wooden foot bridge at the Boerne Visitor’s Center.  Completed in one weekend, the bridge was the creation of scout Comfort High School student Tyler Martini, who used the project to earn credit toward his Eagle Scout designation. Along with help from his troop, Martini also received donated materials, labor, supplies and food from Buie Lumber, the City of Boerne Parks Department, Bergmann Lumber, and Hungry Horse Restaurant. The bridge was necessary to provide a way for guests to cross over a ditch serves as the most direct route to the front door from the parking lot.

Boerne Mayor Dan Heckler was on hand to officially dedicate the bridge and unveil the permanent plaque that bears the Troop name, along with officials from the Boerne Chamber of Commerce, the Visitor’s Center, fellow troop members and their leaders.

“This is an excellent project that is practical, needed, and adds to the appearance of the Visitor’s Center,” the Mayor said. “I would encourage any scout member who is searching for a worthwhile project to consider a project such as this that will benefit the entire community and serve as a legacy,” he added.
