The George Strait Team Roping Classic (GSTRC) is the largest open roping event in America with more than $700,000 in cash and prizes available to participants. Last year, in front of thousands of spectators, 545 teams from across the country competed for the Championship title and grand prize. This year will be the 31st annual show. The event originated in 1982 as a small family roping by George and his late brother Buddy. It is now one of the most prestigious open team roping competitions in the country and consistently attracts the biggest names in the sport each year.
