9 Ways to Get Your Art On in Boerne this Spring!
It’s hard not to be inspired to create in the Texas Hill Country. So many artists call the Texas Hill Country home and Boerne tries its best to showcase their talent whenever possible. We, also, encourage you to come and be creative as well. Discover all the great ways to appreciate local creativity and be inspired by Boerne this spring season.
The 20th Annual Parade of Artists weekend will kick off on April 9th and will showcase dozens of local and regional artists in galleries and “other venues” primarily along the hill country mile. Explore on foot or hop on the free trolley and be prepared to be awe struck by the talent that lives here in the Texas Hill Country.
The Shabby Palette is where “We do fun art in Boerne”. At the moment they have summer camps and afterschool programs on the brain during the day, and paint and sip parties filling up the night. However, later this spring they will be expanding and opening up their POP IN PAINT PARLOUR! They are very excited to start this new endeavor and offer just one more way to be inspired and create in the Boerne community. Check them out soon!
Any quilter (or anyone who knows a quilter) will tell you that quilting is one of the most meticulous art forms known to man! The Hauptstrasse Quiltfest on May 7th is a unique opportunity to see hundreds of fabulous handmade quilts hung throughout Main Plaza and up and down the Hill Country Mile, displayed for all to see and appreciate. The Boerne Handmade Market was just recently ranked one of the top crafting shows nationwide. This market, scheduled for May 7th, offers ONLY handmade crafts and goods made by local artists/artisans/crafters. Vendors range from home décor, children’s items, bath and body products & even food items.
Get inspired by the beauty of the Boerne community and pop into Captured Sunshine for a spell to paint with the kiddos (or sans kiddos!) Their paint your own pottery studio is located in the center of the Hill Country Mile, in the front section of Old Town. Once you’re finished painting your masterpiece, leave it for firing and pick it up to enjoy at home a week later. Personal Note: I did this with my then 4yo and her pink painted unicorn is still, 2 years later, one of her most prized possessions!
Cibolo Nature Center’s Art in the Park on May 7th is a free community festival celebrating both the beauty of nature in bloom in the spring and artistic expression. Professional and student artists set up art activity stations at the Nature Center. Visual and performing artists will be featured along with many hands on activities for everyone.
The Second Saturday in May “The Flats”; a neighborhood filled with unique old Boerne homes, will be playing host to the 4th Annual Art Waddle Neighborhood Art Walk. Participating artists, featuring a wide array of mediums, will be set up on front lawns. The public is encouraged to meander through the neighborhood admiring and shopping for that perfect piece (or more!) that they can’t live without.
You can’t deny that springtime in the Texas Hill Country is the primetime to spend your days walking outdoors. The Boerne trail system is highly praised and home to many of the Art Al Fresco public art exhibit pieces. Take a walk and enjoy!
