How to Solve the Spring Break Conundrum

Boerne City LakeSpring Break is almost here and the younger half of your crew is probably already bugging you to go to crowded places like Fiesta Texas & Sea World. Believe me, I get it. The idea of wading through the parking lots and crowds, day after day, is enough to give me a nervous twitch just thinking about it! We may just have an answer to the family spring break trip conundrum. Plan to stay in Boerne; where it’s mellow enough to please mom and dad and plan a few day excursions to places that will make the littles happy.

Relaxing, quite hikes in area parks or trail walking through town are both favorite activities for locals. Another option is a round of golf at Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort. Tapatio is also home to Pure Sol Spa should you choose to divide and conquer both activities simultaneously.

Hill Country Mile- BoerneDowntown Shopping, History & Art: The Hill Country Mile can’t be beat on this front! Shopping enthusiasts (think mom & teen & tween daughters) will LOVE scouting the unique boutiques along Main St. for fashion finds that you will not see at home. Need to feather your nest a little? Home décor shopping is prime here too! If shopping is a hard sell for the hubs and sons in your household, hand them a historic walking tour map and an Art al Fresco brochure so they can learn a bit while you shop downtown. They could, also, hit the Cibolo Trail, chill at Main Plaza or hang out at Drink Texas Biergarten or Cibolo Creek Brewing Co.

Family Food- BoerneFood Food Food!: Boerne does it right when it comes to food. We have an assortment of flavors & settings available from casual breakfasts in a café  or bakery to eloquent Hill Country style fine dining for dinner, relaxed outdoor food truck parks with live music to enjoy well into the evening to a sidewalk bistro for people watching at lunch with the fam. The kiddos will be welcomed in all establishments!

Farmers Market at the CiboloDon’t forget to hit up the Farmers Market at the Cibolo for a tasty breakfast, some educational youth programs or to pick up locally made goodies to take home and share. The historic Herff Farm & Homestead can also be toured while you are at the market. Follow your market and tour with a visit to the Cibolo Nature Center. It’s all on the same property.
