13 ways to celebrate the holidays in Boerne!

The weather is turning and there is a nip in the air. The holidays are upon us and we know how to celebrate here in Boerne. We invite you to join in on the fun and get in the holiday spirit with 13 seasonal events here in the next month!

1. Dickens on Main November 27 & 28, Downtown Boerne (Free)

The 16th annual Dickens on Main celebration officially kicks off the holiday season spreading tidings of good cheer and merriment galore. Shop for unique holiday gifts along Boerne’s Hill Country Mile for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday while the whole family enjoys live musical entertainment, Dickens-era theatrical performances, a variety of children’s activities each night including Santa and a 60-foot snow slide, live ice sculpting shows, horse-drawn carriage rides, snow on Main Street and more. A Boerne tradition packed with holiday fun and festivities, Dickens on Main promises to be another spectacular, joyful experience.

2. Stocking Stroll November 28, Downtown Boerne (Tickets $25)

Ticket holders meander the Hill Country Mile discovering quaint local businesses included on the Stocking Stroll map. Guests receive unique gifts at each participating location to fill their stockings. Purchase tickets in advance at the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce.

3. Oma’s Christmas Craft Fair December 5 & 6, Kendall County Fairgrounds

You will find all your Christmas shopping easy to handle with every type of unique gift available at Oma's. Texas hand crafted wood items, homemade jellies, hand crafted clothing, wall hangings, ceramics, knitted and crocheted goods, hand embroidered items "like your grandmother used to make" and hand painted bird feeders and bird houses that will surely please the most discerning back yard birds. Three large buildings full of handmade crafts you are sure to find the perfect gift for any loved one no matter what their age or liking.

4. Inaugural Opa’s Chili Cook-Off December  5, Kendall County Fairgrounds

 It's not just chili!  It's Cornbread too.  Start working up your batch of Texas style chili and get the pot just right!  Prizes will be awarded to the 1st through 10th place.  With beans, without beans - it's all up to you. 

5. Weihnacht Parade December 5, Downtown Boerne (Free)

The Weihnacht Parade is a long standing Boerne Christmas tradition. 2015 will be the 29th anniversary. Up to 100 lit entries travel Main Street. The parade is always on the first Saturday of December and starts at 6:00pm. 2015 Parade will be on December 5, 2015.

6. A Walk in Bethlehem December 8 & 9, St. Helena's Episcopal Church (Free)

As you enter the city, allow the sights, sounds and smells to carry you to a period of time that changed the world. Journey through the heart of the city after being counted for the census. The highlight of the event will be the arrival of the Christ Child and a traditional nativity scene including camels and Magi.

7 & 8. Boerne Market Days December 12 & 13 & Cowboy Christmas Market Days- December 19 & 20, Main Plaza  (Free)

On the second weekend of every month, Main Plaza is home to a magical outdoor market that blends the traditions of the Texas Hill Country with the creations of today’s culture.  Hundreds of festive booths display everything from collectibles and remembrances of the past to modern innovations that will bring a smile of wonder to those who stroll past.  Scrumptious food and captivating music top the experience and delight the senses.

9. The Christmas Town- December 12 & 19, Vanguard Institute (Free)

This unique experience is sure to bring the entire family back to the true spirit of the season! The Christmas Town includes live Christmas music, hayrides, the town of Bethlehem on the night of Christ's birth, shopping hand-made gifts, an entire interactive area just for kids, amazing foods and so much more. Join us in enjoying the meaningful traditions of the season.

10. Boerne Concert Band Christmas Performance December 13,  Boerne High School Auditorium (Free)

The Boerne Concert Band is a group of volunteer musicians that performs free live musical concerts for audiences in the Boerne, Texas area. They are proud to present a wide variety of music to entertain audiences of all ages. This performance will feature everyone favorite Christmas tunes!

11. The Ten Tenors, Home for the Holidays December 17,  Boerne Champion HS Auditorium (Tickets Required)

Presented by the Boerne Performing Arts, Home for the Holidays is a magical experience for the whole family that will dazzle, delight and captivate. Join ‘The Vocal Wonder from Down Under’ (Broadway World) as they deliver a unique selection of traditional and contemporary seasonal favorites. With soaring versions of Joy to the World, Sleigh Ride, White Christmas, Amazing, Grace, Winter Wonderland, Feliz Navidad and many more, Home for the Holidays is a musical celebration that perfectly captures the spirit of the season. 12. Winter Solstice with Celebration Circle December 19, Cave Without A Name Throne Room (Tickets Required)

Enjoy a thrilling and eclectic concert of contemporary acoustic songs, soaring vocals, ancient instrumentation, improvisation, and contemplation celebrating the Fall Equinox. The performance is focused on the thematic balance of the darkness and light, marked by the Winter Solstice. Part of the program is performed in total darkness and flickering candlelight.

13. Christmas Light Fest at Don Strange Ranch November 26- December 27 ($27 per vehicle)

Featuring dazzling displays that start before you even drive through the gates of the ranch, Christmas Light Fest also brings Santa’s Village to life for families to enjoy. Stop for holiday flavors and fun, and meet with the jolly ol’ man himself  each weekend of Christmas Light Fest.  Santa will hear the kid's holiday wishes, so bring your cameras and snap away—there’s no charge for pictures with Santa.
