A Day At The Lake? Why, YES!

The secret is out! Boerne City Lake Park is a hopping place for families to have a water-play day! The facility is comprised of 100 acres of park land and more than 100 acres of water to accommodate a FULL day of fun! In addition to the beautiful natural surroundings, there have been several add-ons that the public loves taking advantage of.  So, come on over and check it out! Need help finding it? Here’s a road map

Fishing…

Yes, there are fish in the lake and we have seen some big ones come out recently! The shoreline is abundant and there are fishing piers available too. It’s not uncommon to see folks fishing from a paddleboard, kayak or a small boat. Be aware that all Texas Parks and Wildlife rules are enforced within the park, so grab a fishing license for everyone (18+) that will be holding a pole.

Paddling…

Don’t have a kayak or paddleboard? Not a problem! Hill Country Paddle Sports is onsite and has equipment available to rent. Need lessons? Quick lessons are complimentary! Don’t let paddle boarding intimidate you because it’s new. It’s much easier than you would expect, and it’s a great core and upper body workout for those that are looking for a way to spice up their exercise routine.

Fun On Land…

Believe it or not, it’s not all about the water at the lake. The park offers a 9-hole disc golf course that winds around the shoreline. You can find official rules, a map and a scorecard on-line. Little ones can take a break from the water on the shaded playground. Bring a volleyball with you and take advantage of the court next to the covered pavilion. There is also a large open field that is popular for kites, baseball or kickball. Another favorite DRY activity is walking or running across the dam. The view can’t be beat and there is always a cool breeze blowing.

During the peak months, there are occasionally food trucks available on the weekends. However, you are always welcome to bring a lunch to spread out at one of the many picnic tables. Some units are outfitted with grills, so if you arrive early and snag one, bring weenies and buns for grilling out! Please remember to leave all glass containers at home.

Boating…

Yes, boats are allowed, but take note that there are rules; the primary rule being that gas-powered motors are a no-go. This has been put in place to protect the water quality, as well as everyone that lives and plays in it.

Safety…

No, there are not lifeguards on duty.  However, due to the watercraft restrictions at the lake, you won’t need to fret about jet skis and motor boats zipping close to your little ones while they splash and play. Electric motors are allowed, however the fastest vehicle you may encounter on the water is a sailboat on a windy day!

The Skinny On Getting In…

There is a parking fee at Boerne City Lake Park if you are not a resident of the City of Boerne. Here is a list of rates and available discounts. The gates open at 5:00 am and close at 10:00 pm! Please note that overnight camping is not available in this facility.
